Frequently Asked Questions

  • How will my experience be affected during covid-19?

In order to ensure the safety of ourselves and our beloved customers, we have implemented a simple procedure which we have outlined below. These relatively simple steps shouldn’t take too long upon arrival. We thank everyone in advance for their cooperation and participation in taking the necessary steps with us. We are very much hoping all will return to normal soon.
    1. Customers will have to ring the doorbell to gain access, they will be greeted at the door by one of us.
    2. We will be wearing full-face screen visors, and we kindly ask that you arrive for your appointment wearing a suitable face-covering yourself.
    3. Upon entering the store, customers will be required to sign a visitor access health form and have their temperature taken using a contact-free thermometer.
    4. All involved will be required to sterilize their hands using the gel provided and invited to wear a pair of disposable non-latex gloves if they are going to be browsing the collection.
    5. At the moment we are happy to allow our customers to invite up to two guests along to their appointment with them.
    6. We will be running the store strictly on an appointment-only basis. If you do not have an appointment, unfortunately, you will not be granted access.
We hope all this makes sense, other than the formalities when you arrive, the rest of the appointment should relatively normally. Obviously, if you have any questions before your appointment, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

  • When should I start shopping for my dress?

This is different for everyone depending on the event that you are shopping for. For brides, we recommend shopping approximately 12 months before the big day and having chosen your gown at least 9 months before. This will allow adequate time for your dress to be ordered in and for us to arrange subsequent accessory appointments and alteration fittings should they be required.

6-8 months beforehand is ideal for bridesmaid dresses and Prom dresses.

  • Do I have to book an appointment?

In short, yes. If you are planning on making a trip to us, especially to try dresses on, then booking an appointment beforehand is vital. Our private fitting room is always in high demand and we would hate you to make the trip only to find that we are unable to accommodate you. That said, you are always welcome to pop in and browse the rails before you book an appointment if you wish.

  • How many guests can I bring with me?

We can accommodate up to two guests to join you for your appointment. We recommend bringing along those closest to you whose opinions you value the most. Your guests should understand your true style and offer you supportive feedback.

  • How long is an appointment?

Our appointments normally last an 90 minutes. At weekends we are often fully booked so have to stick strictly to the time schedule, however, there is far more flexibility during the week so we always recommend booking in then if you can. This way if there are no appointments booked after you, then there is no rush to end the appointment once the set time has passed. This is always nice if we feel we are on a roll!

  • What sizes are the sample dresses?

Our sample dresses in store range between a UK 10 to UK 18, with the average being a 12 or 14 depending on style. When ordering your dress, measurements are taken and then the appropriate size is ordered accordingly. You then may need alterations to achieve the perfect fit, which can be arranged once your dress has arrived.

  • I plan on losing weight before the wedding, should I wait before shopping?

Every bride wants to look their best on their big day, but leaving things to the last minute can cause complications. Especially since some dresses can require an ordering time of up to 6 months. We recommend shopping within the recommended time frame of approximately 12 months before the wedding as usual, and just keep in mind that most dresses can be taken in at the alteration stage.

  • What should I wear to my appointment?

You don’t need to bring anything specific. White or nude coloured underwear is advised, and minimal makeup. We have everything else you need right here.

  • How much does a wedding dress cost?

This really depends on what sort of style you are going for. We have a selection of gowns for most budgets, but if you would like more specific information beforehand, please feel free to contact us directly and we can potentially guide you to the brand/range best suitable.

  • How many dresses can I try on?

There is no limit to how many dresses you can try on in the time available. It is our job though to help guide you through the styles until we find you the one. In our experience sometimes it can be as many as 10, but don’t be put off if you end up going back to the very first dress. It happens more often than you might think.

  • Can I take photos?

Photos aren’t allowed to be taken in-store whilst you are trying dresses on, unfortunately. However, we are happy to send you professional catalogue photos should you want to remind yourself of what you have tried on during your appointment.

  • What shape dress will suit me?

We have compiled a handy tool to help you figure out just that. Please check out the wedding shape guide, which will have all the information you need.
